This kind of felt like the perfect representation of a rainy twilight like tonight.

Contact Sheet, 2002
This is from my first rolls of film in 9th grade. I remember feeling so excited about being in that class. My teacher normally did not allow Freshman into her Photo 1 class, but she made an exception for me and one more girl because we both had previous experience with developing film.
We had a project where we had to photograph still lifes of our own creation but it had to contain an egg. There were others, where we had to focus on composition, panning, frozen motion, depth of field, etc.
I remember thinking about how much I enjoyed my contact sheets more so than the singular photographs. I enjoyed photograms and used dirt and such over this sheet before adding my negatives and creating this print.
I still enjoy the memories it evokes to this day.

Sketchbook Saturday Sunday
Worn Window
Silver Gelatin Print, 2007
This is a print from Eatonton, GA of a window in an old abandoned house. I loved taking pictures of the way it aged and rotted and yet still stood firm.
In recent years, it came out that it was Alice Walker’s house. They now do tours and have taken better care of the house. Although it is rumored that Alice Walker despised living there and swore never to come back to Eatonton GA.
But I want to be clear - when I took and developed this photograph I had no such knowledge to influence me. I was solely a passer-by who saw beauty in an old worn house.

Shirt: Long Line Fish by United By Blue (Available for purchase now.)
The goals of this photo shoot extend beyond just aesthetic. I hope these images invite discussion, introduce our staff and city, and emphasize our message. I want people to see that UBB’s clothes are not simply for beach locales. People are eco-aware all over the nation – landlocked or not – and I want them to see how these shirts thrive in an urban context.

The Lamp by my Bed
2011, Color Photograph
After moving, my mother put our old, ornate living room lamp in my bedroom and I found myself struck by the distinct gold design against the deep green of my wall. I clearly tweaked the colors so as to give the focus more on the lines as well as evoke a nostalgic feeling of time.
